I work on trustworthy AI and autonomous systems — how to build AI that can be relied on when it matters, and how to get that capability into use at the scale society actually needs. My research combines machine learning with knowledge representation and reasoning: systems that learn from data, reason with what they know, and work with people and other machines.
I lead the Reasoning and Learning (ReaL) Lab and head the Division of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS) at Linköping University. Much of my work is about scaling and accelerating AI research and education — building the programmes, centres and networks that turn individual results into national and European capability. That runs from doctoral training through WASP to K-12 AI literacy, and from EU research networks to advising on AI policy.

News
Feb 2026 — RESIST, a national centre for cyber-resilient AI, is announced with SEK 60 million from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. I direct the centre, which is hosted by LiU with Lund University, Örebro University and RISE.
2026 — New work out on AI literacy for K-12 education (an international Delphi study), on scaling transformers for time series forecasting, and on the geopolitics of AI in environmental governance. See publications.
2025 — Contributor to the International AI Safety Report, chaired by Yoshua Bengio.
